Nirvana, less than a mile from home

I meant to mention this last week, but, times being what they are…

The Cheese & Wine Bar at Cheesetique opened last week and it feels like (and will likely become) an extension of my living room. It’s small and cozy, the food is divine, and the staff is made up entirely of my kind of people. The prices are such that they’re in no rush to turn over the tables, which is to say they’re steepish but not excessive. Alicia and I had dinner there last week and were quite charmed by the entire experience.

Word to the wise, though: If you should decide to order dessert and your companion suggests you share the one with the chocolate tea bread and mascarpone, do not give in. You will only end up ordering another. This will become apparent before the third bite, and you will feel silly.

And per their website, they carry Colston Bassett Stilton, which is one of my personal favorites.

Oh, ouch. You have touched on my only sore point with Cheesetique, which is that they are SO busy that their online cheese list is sometimes out of date. Fortunately, there’s always a tasty alternative.
