Oh, happy day

Maggie Mason’s got some excellent pictures of the gay and lesbian couples getting married at City Hall in San Francisco last week: http://mightygirl.com/2008/06/18/growing-pains/
Reactions:
Endless joy. People who want to legally join their lives together (without coercion or brainwashing–I’m looking at you, FLDS) ought to be able to do so.
San Francisco has the most gorgeous City Hall. Who needs a church or a horse-drawn carriage when you’ve got SF’s City Hall and cable cars? (For that matter, hooray for green wedding dresses!)
Wedding cupcakes may be the best idea EVER. If you’ve been to a lot of weddings, you’ll agree, I think, that traditional wedding cake is highly overrated.
Note to the affianced: Skip that freeze-a-slice garbage. Most wedding cakes are bad enough fresh and positively assy after a year in tin foil. Get a cake you like, eat all of it, and call your baker in a year to get a replica of the top tier. Some bakers are wising up and including this replica as part of their packages.
Or better yet, do cupcakes! Nothing says happiness and joy like a table full of tiny cakes.
Ryan and Leigh did cupcakes for Karen and Muffy’s wedding last week. There was exactly one protester at SJ City Hall. The Merc named him. I thought that was awesome.
I wondered about their midweek wedding activities…
