Signs and portents

Before I moved over my share of what was in refrigerator, my new fridge contained the following:

Carmelized onion cheddar
Drunken Goat
Irish Vintage Cheddar
Some blue cheese Jon picked out (that’s just going to get tossed onto a steak because, ew)
Duck liver paté
Red Truck table wine
A brand new Brita

I’d say that’s a good indication of things to come. Even now, I’m pretty sure I have more varieties of cheese than of condiments.

My wine rack is well stocked. I opened a somewhat special bottle the other night: a Valeriano from Jacuzzi in Sonoma. I brought it back from my “We Made it to 30” trip with two friends from high school. It seemed appropriate — sort of moving from “We made it to 30” to “Thank god I’m only 30.” I’d thought to open my last bottle of Gruet, but I think that can wait for a…non-Tuesday event. Perhaps the first out-of-town visitor or other special event in the new place.

Did I mention yet the cabinet that exists solely to store my stemware? I did? Well, let me tell you again what a marvelous concept that is. And it’s pretty much full, even though I lost a red wine glass in the move. (The poor thing never had a chance to shine — it was part of a set we received as a wedding gift, but the whole set remained in my hope chest for four and a half years.) Martini glasses, naturally, have their own shelf.

I should have some pictures relatively soon. I’d like to get a few more boxes out of the way first.

That was, I’ll have you know, superior blue cheese. It deserves a better fate 🙂

I’m happy you enjoyed it. I’ll give you tangy and pungent and well-crafted. but I am unqualified to judge its superiority.

I am STILL saving the Valeriano. Nothing special enough to crack it open.

    – One of your friends from high school (wtf – I deserve to be called by my bean-title, don’t you think?). Call the other one what you will, but try not to under-label me. 😛

Fair point, love. As I granted the title, I am bound to use it.

To all and sundry: I took the “We Made it to 30” trip with my Bean and another girl we’ve known since high school.

    Better? 😉

Also, if behooves me to be deliberately vague on here from time to time. Not this time. But for the record…

    That’s MUCH better. 😉
